Support Groups

Why Are Support Groups Helpful?

A support group provides a unique and critical service: acceptance. This forum allows individuals to ask questions and to learn in a non-judgmental and safe environment. Participants know that everyone attending the meeting understands and has compassion for the functional difficulties of getting through each day. As a result, less frustration and energy are spent on proving or defining limitations. More energy is available for appreciating the character and companionship offered by others, and recognizing personal self-worth.

In-Person Support Groups

Support groups recognize the challenges of living with a vestibular disorder and provide an opportunity for people to share their stories, find understanding and support, and increase awareness of vestibular disorders through group discussion, informative sessions, and access to resources.

Online Support Groups

Many patients cannot leave their home or do not have a local support group available. An online support group allows them to have a dynamic discussion with other patients to ask questions, share coping strategies, and receive support.

Social Media Support Groups

You may also want to participate in a Support Group on Facebook or Instagram. These groups can help get you connected to other vestibular patients where you can share stories, ask questions, and find support.
